Born and raised in Kyoto, I am a koto and sangen (shamisen) performer who holds a deep love for this beautiful city. Since the age of 15, I have been drawn to the sounds of the koto and sangen, and have been captivated by the beauty of traditional Japanese music. I also love wearing traditional Japanese clothing, and in some ways, that love is part of what inspires me to continue performing hōgaku (Japanese classical music). I believe that passing on the charm and richness of hōgaku is essential, and I dedicate myself—however humbly—to sharing and preserving this wonderful cultural heritage. I am also committed to the classical traditions passed down by the Kyoto Tōdōkai. In addition to teaching Japanese students, I also enjoy introducing the beauty of traditional Japanese music to international students and travelers from around the world..
